Welcome to Stepping Up To Your Potential – a podcast dedicated to personal growth and development through self-awareness and emotional intelligence! I am SO happy you’re here. See, I believe that humans are loaded with nearly limitless potential — but too often we settle for average. YOU ARE NOT AVERAGE! After all, you’re here and you got here because the idea of actually expressing even a small amount more of the vast potential that is you is one that appeals. So live boldly and step up with me! I’ll admit I haven’t figured everything out quite yet, after all life is a journey rather than a destination, but constantly finding ways to express and expand the potential that I was born with is one of the most profoundly spiritual things I can imagine. Whether your goal is to earn more on the job, create greater success for your business, or embrace all those things you’ve wanted to do but were hesitant to, I welcome you! There are several ways you can keep updated with new insights, challenges and encouragements:
You can fellow and subscribe through any of the social media options listed there, but due to increasingly selective parameters if you join email list that’s the best way to be 100% sure you get notified when a new episode goes live. Also help increase the manifested potential that our fellow humans are capable of by sharing anything you find which in some helped you. This helps me know what you found most useful so that I start giving you more of your looking for! I’d also REALLY appreciate any other love you care to send my way by sharing any posts with your friends.
My Ayahuasca Journey
In February 2024, I finally embarked on an ayahuasca journey. I had spent months researching to find a safe, experienced facilitator and a supportive group environment. My intention was clear: to heal ancestral trauma I might have overlooked. In preparation, I adhered to the traditional diet and practices, ensuring my intentions were clear and focused. To familiarize myself with altered states, I also underwent a medicalized ketamine treatment beforehand. This helped me understand how my body and mind might respond to such experiences. Yet, I...

My journey into the spirituality space began at the intersection of self-help and spiritual discovery, driven by a lifelong pursuit of self-realization. It began in 4th grade when my grandmother gifted me a diary, sparking my habit of journaling that continues to this day. By 6th grade, I was recording dreams, and in 10th grade, I began exploring astrology—both practices I’ve carried forward. These pursuits, like this podcast, have followed a rhythm of activity and reflection. I liken this rhythm to breathing: periods of activity as the...

True emotional awareness takes courage. I mean, real courage. There is a huge movement out there aimed at becoming conscious, and I was a part of it for many years. Unfortunately, I never really got anywhere with it. I am going to go out on major limb here by confessing that I was frustrated by platitudes and positive affirmations. They just didn’t help me get to where I wanted to go. They didn’t move me forward, and they didn’t encourage me to step up. For years, I remained ineffective, unproductive, and unchallenged. The...

I’d like to talk today about Fear. While it’s both a blessing and curse, being aware of how it can physiologically affect each of us is important to understand. Fear is a basic, root level, hard wired emotion with the sole objective of survival. Fear is always linked to ideas of survival, however obfuscated the linkages may be. When in a situation ruled by fear, the higher thinking centers of our minds are literally disabled. All energy is redistributed to survival reactions. The higher the level of fear, the more of the thinking...

Dark Side of the Light Chasers Reclaiming Your Power, Creativity, Brilliance, and Dreams by Debbie Ford This is an excellent book – clearly written, using personal and relatable examples from the author’s life and experience including her drug addiction. She’s been to some dark places and found her out. I found it inspirational and very grounded. My husband and I took a Hay House cruise in 2009 and had the pleasure of watching Debbie Ford give one of the lectures. She blew both of us away because here she is talking about...

When I was in college, Star Trek: Next Generation was out. I loved the concept of Data, a humanistic android with no emotions though he strove to understand them. Boy were there times when I wished I had no emotions! See, emotional awareness was not something I grew up with, at all – something I’d wager was pretty much the norm for most everyone… everywhere. There are very few ‘civilized’ societies where emotional awareness is valued. Indeed, I was emotionally UNaware of myself and those around me until...

It would be marvelous if we could always learn things the easy way. Unfortunately, much of humanity seems to be wired differently. When we are comfortable, we don’t want to change things. I mean, we’re comfortable! But once comfortable, it seems that things have get really bad before lessons are learned – at least for myself in my youth, though I did learn. For example, I figured out early on that when I got depressed, it was a message from my soul that I wasn’t doing what I needed to. Essentially, it was my...

I’m going to change topics for this post, returning to a topic discussed early on but otherwise left alone. While some people like to imagine that a journey into consciousness does not involve money, I’ve learned otherwise. The Story I have made pretty much every single money mistake imaginable. Yes, this even includes a personal bankruptcy. I remember standing in the courthouse waiting to meet with my court-appointed representative. Bankruptcy is an open room affair, so I got to hear every sob story before I went. My reason was...

Before I embarked on this journey of stepping up, I had no idea just how much my emotional life was held hostage. What do I mean by this? I was held hostage by aspects of myself which were ready to be seen – remember the Hall of Mirrors? – but which I myself really did not want to. If those issues came up, in whatever context, I turned into either a rage monster or I simply ran away from the situation. That’s one thing I can say that the modern victim culture has really done – it’s made trigger awareness...

Now that I’ve touched on the topic of starting to actively work with projections (aka The Hall of Mirrors) with the goal of owning and thus defusing those projections, I want to now mention a skill set which is vital to starting and truly mastering this type of work. Fortunately, it’s a topic that once again I’m thrilled to hear being echoed by many of the high quality spirituality and personal growth teachers – though it is by no means limited to that sphere. That skill is Discernment. What exactly is discernment?...
