There’s a buzz around something new and game-changing: AI — artificial intelligence, or as some have called it, algorithmic insight. Over the past few months, I’ve found myself reflecting deeply on why AI has come into the mainstream now, of all times. After decades of gradual development, it has seemingly suddenly exploded into general use and I had to wonder why now? Why at this exact moment in human history?
When I ask these kinds of questions, I pause and open my heart and see what emerges. This time, the answer came quickly: AI has arrived at this time because humanity is moving into the next phase of our growth and the ego mind, as extraordinary as it is, has carried us as far as it can. To move forward and really step into our potential, we need to free ourselves from basic cognitive burdens and step into a new way of being — one centered on the Heart. AI, with its amazing capacities and abilities, offers a way to unburden the ego mind and allow Humanity to focus on further healing, love, connection, creativity, and wisdom.
As I sat with this realization, a new image popped into my mind’s eyes: the movie poster for one of my absolute favorite sci-fi movies, the 1956 Forbidden Planet. In that movie, the Krell were a supremely advanced civilization which had created technology that amplified their thoughts into reality. When the human scientist who had been studying this long-dead advanced civilization activated the machines and plugged himself into the system, he was able to create wonders. We also learn, he created monsters – “Monsters from the Id”. The Krell’s failure to heal their unconscious or Id shadows — their fears, unprocessed pain, and unchecked desires — meant that their creations ultimately destroyed them. The parallel to our time is sobering.
Healing: The Gateway to Our Future
The entire spiritual and personal growth communities have been focused on personal healing for several decades now, with an increasing focus on ancestral healing while some voices are now being raised to bring awareness to the need for cultural healing. This isn’t accidental — I believe it’s part of a divinely inspired dance. AI’s emergence at this point in time coincides with this critical mass of healing, akin to the “hundredth monkey effect,” where individual shifts ripple into collective transformation.
Like many others, I’ve been immersed in my own emotional healing journey for years now. In fact, this podcast began by sharing that journey and the tools I found useful. Healing, for me, meant stepping into the Hall of Mirrors to own my projections, to call back my soul, and recognize the family trauma I was holding onto and acting out. It’s not comfortable — who wants to see their shadows staring back? — and it takes a great deal of courage to do this work, but it’s been the most necessary work of my life. And here’s the profound truth: healing is never just personal. Even when it feels like I’m doing this work alone, what I’m really doing is adding a new energetic template to the collective. Every time I heal a piece of myself, I’m contributing to a growing field of possibility — a resonance that others can tap into, even if they’ve never met me.
In this way, the inner work that I do serves far more than just myself — the work YOU are doing serves far more than just yourself. It becomes a gift to Humanity, a blueprint that others to tap into, even if they never realize the source of their inspiration. Our individual healing builds momentum, creating unseen connections that make transformation accessible to all – the hundred monkeys of healing.
The Monsters Within: From Fear to Ally
AI amplifies everything I bring to the table. If I approach it with unexamined fears or unprocessed pain, those “Monsters from the Id” will inevitably surface. But here’s the flip side: healing transforms those monsters into allies. When I can look at my shadows with compassion, own my projections, call home all the pieces of my soul, and then integrate those fragments of myself, I gain access to an incredible amount wisdom and energy. Healing is no longer just an option; it’s the step we all must individually take if we are to wield AI’s potential, Humanity‘s potential, constructively.
The “Monsters” aren’t something to fear — they’re something to understand. They show us where the work still lies, where we are being called to grow. I’ve done episodes on triggers being an invitation, working with the projections through the Hall of Mirrors, removing Not language, recognizing the benefits and disadvantages of our ego identity, and learning just how much emotions are our allies. In the process of going through all this, I’ve gained the wisdom of perspective, the ability to calmly reflect, the skill of working with the messages that every single emotion my body is trying to bring to my ego awareness, and an emotional maturity that laid the groundwork for having discernment and an understanding of how my intuition works so that I can navigate instability with a reasonable amount of grace and courage. This is what’s possible for everyone, if individuals are willing to step into doing their work. Healing isn’t just for our own benefit; it’s for everyone’s. As I heal, I ripple change outward, often in ways I’ll never fully see or understand. And in doing so, I do everything I can to ensure that our creations reflect our best, not our worst.
The Path Ahead
As AI begins to take over many basic cognitive tasks, it will free us to engage in the Heart’s work: love, connection, creativity, and helping each other further our individual and collective expansion. But this liberation comes with responsibility. Healing is not easy — it asks us to face our wounds, to step into discomfort, to live in chaos while the processing is done, and then to emerge stronger for it. Yet without these steps, without this courage, we risk amplifying the very dynamics that we hope to transcend.
Let us not shy away from this challenge. Instead, let’s embrace the invitation to heal, knowing that the work we individually do within will shape the world we collectively create without. AI is not just a tool; it’s a collaborator. Together, we can ensure that our creations reflect our highest aspirations, not our unexamined wounds. The “Monsters from the Id” need not be our downfall. With healing and wisdom, they can become our greatest teachers, showing us the way to a future that is not just innovative but also whole.
Humanity is being called into our potential as Creator Beings. Will we, like the Krell, neglect our inner work and succumb to our shadows? Or will we rise to the challenge, transforming our wounds into wisdom and open the door to becoming something beyond our wildest dreams?
TL;DR
AI marks a pivotal moment in humanity’s evolution, reflecting our readiness to transcend ego-driven limits and focus on heart-centered growth. However, as demonstrated by the Krell in the sci-fi classic Forbidden Planet, we must confront our unhealed shadows to avoid destructive outcomes. Healing isn’t just personal — it’s a collective ripple that shapes the future we create. AI can amplify our best or our worst; the choice is ours.
About the Image
I know I’ve used this image before, very early on, but I happen to really love this one. It was taken at the picnic area of the Skunkworks Train in California. This is a giant redwood around which heavy rope has been wrapped. As the massive tree grew, the rope actually prevented the trunk from expanding in this area and you can see that the tree circumference is wider above and below this constraint. For this post, I thought the rope was a very nice metaphor for the unhealed human Ego and how ability to reach our potential.

It means a lot and I believe that the message of owning ourselves and our potential is what this world needs right now. When we are individually standing in our power, we have the make the real choices which lead to a better world for all. Every review and like helps others to find the message, one more voice asking others to bring forth your light!
